Masahiro Miyazaki : ウィキペディア英語版
Masahiro Miyazaki

is a kendo player who works for Kanagawa Prefectural Police in Japan. He participated in All Japanese Kendo Tournament 12 times from 1990 to 2001 and won 6 times and won successive victories. It was said that All Japanese Kendo tournament can’t be won successive victories, but it was finished by Miyazaki’s achievement. Because of his great achievements in the history of Japanese kendo, he is called “A master swordsman of the 21st and “An iron man of kendo.” 〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=(6)武道の殿堂 心技体の強さ世界へ )

Miyazaki was born in 1963 in Kanagawa prefecture near Tokyo. In 1969, he entered Shinotani Elementary School in Yokohama city. When he was 7, he began to play kendo at Genbukan Sakagami Dojo. In 1981, after he graduated from Toukai Dai Huzoku Sagami high school having a strong kendo club, he started working for the Kanagawa Prefectural Police. Due to his accomplishments, Kanagawa Prefectural Police Kendo Club nominated Miyazaki for a sword master of the kendo club in 2012.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Masahiro Miyazaki -- International Budo Symposium Hosted by the NIFS-K )

Miyazaki distinguished himself from other kendo players with his aggression and speed. The average time that Miyazaki spent to defeat the opponent was shorter than other kendo players who participated in the All Japan Kendo Tournament. According to a study of Tsukuba University, Miyazaki’s calf muscles are about twice as strong as regular Japanese adult men that make Miyazaki’s movement faster. Moreover, his interval between getting ready and striking is short: Miyazaki spends about 5.5 seconds and the other players spend about 7.5 seconds. As shown above, therefore, Miyazaki’s game rarely goes into over time. The short matches help him maintain his stamina that is significant for kendo players because they have to go through several matches in a day to win a game.〔https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/budo1968/33/2/33_16/_pdf〕

Currently, Miyazaki passed 8 dan rank test, which is the most difficult rank test of kendo and the ratio of successful applicants is 1% in 2009. After a year, he won All Japan 8 dan Tournament at first time. Since Miyazaki became a sword master in 2012, he trains many kendo players to become famous.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=史上2人目、2年連続「最強の剣士」 剣道・高鍋進(上) )
